Biography BOUCHER Francois (Boucher Franois)
(1703-1770)
Born September 29, 1703 in Paris, where he lived all his life. The most famous of his teachers was Francois Lemoine. In 1723 Bush won grand prize at the Royal Academy and in 1727 went to four years in Italy. In Rome he made a particularly strong impression decorative works of Pietro da Cortona and Giovanni Lanfranco. Undoubtedly, the artist was acquainted with the Venetian tradition of monumental and decorative painting, although not known whether he traveled to Venice, later, Bush began to collect paintings by Tiepolo.
In 1734 Bush became a member of the Royal Academy in 1755 - Director of the Royal Manufactory of Tapestry, and ten years later - the director of the Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture and 'the first painter of King'. Boucher died in Paris on May 30, 1770.

Bush - the most famous and successful artist who worked in the rococo style. He received orders for the creation of decorative paintings for the residences of the King and Madame de Pompadour, as well as private mansions in Paris. Bush did the scenery for operas and plays and cartoons for Beauvais tapestry manufactory, two series of cartons, Italian village holidays (1736) and Noble Pastorale (1755), are in the collections of Huntington in San Marino (CA). Worthy of attention to many series of prints by Boucher, including illustrations for the works of Moliere, and other authors, as well as a series of cries of Paris with images of street scenes. The artist served as sketches for porcelain Vincennes and Sevres.

The range of subjects of paintings by Boucher covers all subjects, characteristic of the rococo style. He turned to the literary, . allegorical and mythological subjects (especially related to Venus), . depicted village fairs, . fashionable Parisian life, . playful exotic 'Chinese' and pastoral scenes, . painted landscapes and portraits, . and sometimes the pictures on religious themes,
. Y Boucher is felt in every characteristic rococo combination of acute observation and decorative elegance, sensuous immediacy and playful pretense. Among his best works - painting Triumph of Venus (1740, Stockholm, National Museum), and Portrait of Madame de Pompadour (Munich, Alte Pinakothek).
