Biography Geyer, Eric Gustave (Geijer Erik Gustaf)
(1783-1847) Born in Ransetere (flax Vцєrmland) January 12, 1783. He was educated at Uppsala University, was a professor of this university and for a time worked in the archives of Stockholm. The representative of romanticism, the founder of Gotha Union ', which has had a significant impact on the study of Swedish history and development of national literature. Geyer participated actively in political life and contributed to the reform of education. He is considered the first Swedish historian, and his work history of the Swedish people (Svenska folkets historia, 1832-1836) - the first work on the history of the Swedish nation. Poetry Geyer, many of whom have become folk songs, were published in 1835 in songs skaldic (Skaldestycken), and the hymns included in the Swedish Psalter. His work Swedish Antiques (Svea rikes hfder, 1825), History of the Swedish people and others entered the Collected Works (Samlade skrifter, 1849-1855), published posthumously. Geyer died in Stockholm on April 23, 1847.
