Biography Gunnar Gunnarsson (Gunnarsson Gunnar)
(1889-1975)
Born May 18, 1889 in East Iceland, in a peasant family. In 1907 he left for Denmark, which took place as a writer, returned home in 1939. The success of Scandinavian writer brought the romantic saga of a family history kind of Borg (Af Borgslgtens Historie, 1912-1914). During World War II, wrote grim problem novels, and later turned to the history of Iceland, published in 1918, a novel Twin Cities (Edbrdre), which was the first in a monumental twelve-historical series, completed in 1936. One of the best novels of the series is considered the Black Gull (Svartfugl, 1929). In 1923-1928 Gunnarsson wrote a five-volume autobiographical novel, The Church on the hill (Kirken paa Bjrget). Among other works of the writer should be noted Coming (Advent, 1937), a requiem mass (Slumessa, 1952) and Sonata in the sea coast (Brimhenda, 1954). Died Gunnarsson in Reykjavik, November 21, 1975.
