Biography Milovan Djilas (Djilas Milovan)
(1911-1995)
Born in the village Podbishche near the town of Kolasin in Montenegro, June 12, 1911. He studied literature and law at Belgrade University, joined the Communist Party of Yugoslavia in 1932, in the same year for organizing the demonstrations, was imprisoned, where he remained until 1935. I met with Tito in 1937 and was among his colleagues during the Second World War. In 1953, Djilas was one of the leaders of Yugoslavia with Tito, Edward Kardelj and Alexander Rankovic. When Yugoslavia came into conflict with the Soviet Union in 1948, Djilas charged as responsible for the ideological work, to prove the authenticity of communism in Tito's version, and not Stalin.
Analysis of the regime in Yugoslavia, Djilas led to criticism of the party leadership. In 1954 it was removed from all his posts, expelled from the party, in 1955, he was on probation. In December 1956 Djilas jailed for three years for support of the Hungarian uprising. The manuscript of the book A New Class (The New Class), which he wrote in prison, was secretly taken away from Yugoslavia and published in New York in 1957. After that, he was tried again and sentenced to seven years in prison. The book criticized the basis of the theory of Lenin and Marx, whose implementation has, according to Djilas, the formation of a new elite class. Djilas was prematurely released from prison in January 1961. Publication of excerpts from his new book Conversations with Stalin (Conversations with Stalin) led to a new arrest, interrogation and imprisonment in May 1962. Djilas was pardoned in 1966 and received a pension from the government as the organizer of the partisan movement during the Second World War (although the combat decorations he had not returned), . but he was forbidden to publish anything on the territory of Yugoslavia and speak to the press and on radio in five years,
. Nevertheless Djilas immediately took up literary work. In 1970-1986 he was denied the right to travel outside Yugoslavia.
