William Camden (Camden William)

(1551-1623)
Born May 2, 1551 in London. He studied at London's St Paul's, cheekbones and the University of Oxford. Since 1775 Assistant Director, with the 1593 - Director of Westminster cheekbones; in 1597 he was appointed King of Arms Heraldic House. In 1622 founded the department of history at Oxford University.
Published in 1586 in Latin labor Britain (Britannia; English. translation - 1610) was the result of field research and thought to determine the topography of Roman Britain and explore its changes in the Saxon and medieval era. For 200 years this work remained the main source of information about the topography and antiquities of Britain. Relics related to the UK (Remaines concerning Britannia, 1605) contains an anthology of medieval secular Latin poetry. The first volume chronicles the famous British and Irish affairs in the reign of Elizabeth (Annales rerum Anglicarum et Hibernicarum regnante Elizabetha), . history of the reign of Queen Elizabeth I to 1588, . was published in 1615, . second volume, . brought to the accession to the throne of James I in 1603, . was published posthumously in 1625,

Died in Camden Chizlherste (Kent) November 9, 1623. In 1836 Kemdenovskoe Society was founded in 1897 which became part of the Royal Historical Society.
