Biography Charles Franklin Kettering (Kettering Charles Franklin)
(1876-1958), born August 29, 1876 near Laudonvilla (pc. Ohio). He studied at the village primary school, secondary school Laudonvilla. In 1904 he graduated from the University of Ohio, receiving a degree in electrical engineering. In the same year received the engineer's place in the firm 'Cache National's Register', then was appointed director of Inventions. In 1909 he founded his own company for the development of electrical components for automobiles. Created a system of battery ignition, electric starter, electric generator for farms. During the First World War Kettering led a group of engineers who worked on the creation of guided missiles, was the first synthetic high-octane gasoline.
In 1916, Kettering's company became part of 'United Motors', later transformed into a 'General Motors'. Here Kettering headed the research department, and from 1920 to 1947 he was vice president and member of the Board of Directors of the corporation. . In 1927 Kettering Foundation organized its own behalf, whose goal was to support the education system, as well as research and new developments. With the support of Kettering Institute was created for Cancer Research.

Kettering served as director of the National Institute of Patent Examination and the National Inventors Council, chairman of the National Geographic Society and President of the Edison. He died in Dayton, Kettering (pc. Ohio) 25 November 1958.
