Biography Paul Claudel (Claudel Paul)
(1868-1955) Born Aug. 6, 1868 in Villeneuve. As a diplomat representing France in many countries, including China, Japan, United States. Some of his works, such as Knowledge of the East (Connaissance de l'Est, 1900-1907), convey impressions of diplomatic travels, while most of the other - Catholic Apologetics. Claudel has developed a new style of writing, biblical in spirit and next, as he asserted himself, the natural rhythm of the human heart and respiration. Among the masterpieces of his lyrics Five large OD (Cinq grands odes, 1910) and the cantata for three voices (La cantate trois voix, 1931). Wide possibilities of expression gave Claudel Theater. Midday abutment (Partage de midi, . 1906) - a drama of love, . resolving a hymn to the Lord; news, . sent Mary (L'Annonce faite Marie, . 1912) depicts the clash of passions, . through which the alleged triumph of divine grace; Satin Slipper (Le Soulier de satin, . 1924) resurrects the era of Spanish conquistadors, . conquer the world in the name of Christ, . Claudel died in Paris on February 23, 1955.
