Biography Rene Magritte (Magritte Ren)
(1898-1967), in his paintings, he re-created world of fantasy and dreams. Real objects of the world in his paintings are reproduced in minute detail, . but in an absurd situation and combinations: a huge bright green apple grows from the walls of the room, people, . like raindrops, . falling on the roof, a giant heavy stone floating in the cloudy sky, . The artist's paintings create a sense of mysterious tension and fear, this feeling is achieved by an image of the situation, not having anything to do with the normal, customary for a person. Secret Magritte works is the contrast between the beautifully written out 'hyper-real' objects and their strange combinations and unnatural environment. Magritte was born on November 21, 1898 in the town Lessien in Belgium, studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels. In 1960 the Museum of Modern Art in Dallas (Texas) organized the first major retrospective exhibition of works by the artist, and in 1965 the Museum of Modern Art in New York prepared a retrospective exhibition of his works. Magritte died in Brussels on August 15, 1967.

About 10 years ago saw a reproduction of R. Magritte, which depicts a stool standing on a stone pedestal in the form of a chair. How is this picture? |
