Richard Aldington (Aldington Richard)

(1892-1962)
Born in 1892 in Portsmouth (Hampshire County), went to Dover College and the University of London. Became famous as a member of the circle of poets-imazhistov, creative installation which attracted the attention of literary critics in the prewar years. In the First World War fought on the Western Front. Military experience formed the basis of his first and most famous novel - Death of a Hero (Death of a Hero, 1929), translated into many languages. International recognition received and the subsequent novel, Daughter of Colonel (The Colonel's Daughter, 1932) and others. One of the most erudite writers of his time, he also engaged in translation work, was the author of biographies of outstanding. For a biography of the Duke of Wellington (1946) was awarded the memory of James Tate Blake. The great success of the book won the DG Lawrence and biography of the English 'eccentric' Amazing Life of Charles Waterton (The Strange Life of Charles Waterton, 1949). Aldington died in France 27 June 1962.
