Orcagna Andrea di Chone (Orcagna Andrea di Cione)

(ca. 1308 - ca. 1368)
Born in Florence, the son of the artist. Two of his brothers, Jacopo and Leonardo (Nardo), were painters, and the third, Matteo - sculptor.
Andrea Orcagna created the famous tabernakl, located in the church Orsanmichele in Florence - a grand building, which contains written them altarpiece Madonna delle Grazie. Tabernakl decorated with colored and gilded marble sculptures and reliefs depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin. Work on it continued from 1352 to 1359.
