Biography Saionji Kinmochi
(1849-1940) Born in Kyoto on Dec. 7, 1849. During the Meiji Restoration in 1868 sided with the emperor and then for more than half a century was one of the makers of Japanese politics. From 1870 to 1880 Saionji studied law at the University of Paris. From 1903 to 1914 was president of the party Ricken Seyyukay, in 1901-1902, 1906-1908 and 1911-1912 - Prime Minister. A moderate liberal views. Moving away from politics and in 1916 became a member of Genrе? (Council of the oldest public figures). Saionji led the Japanese delegation at the Paris Peace Conference of 1919. In 1922 he received the title of Prince. Saionji died in Okitsu November 24, 1940.
