Biography Jaroslav Seifert (Seifert Jaroslav)
(1901-1986) Born September 23, 1901 in Prague. He earned a living in journalism, participated in various periodicals, but always resorted to poetry, expressing concern about social justice. In youth collections town in tears (Msto v slzch, 1922), Only Love (Sam lska, 1923), Nightingale sings badly (Slavk zpva patn, 1926) is obvious left political orientation of the author. The book on radio waves (Na vlnch TSF, 1924) embodied the installation a year earlier - a movement which played a prominent role in the cultural life of the Czech Republic and Czechoslovakia, 1920. Art Seifert reaches maturity in 1930, in a lyrical masterpiece hands of Venus (Ruce Venuiny, 1936). During the Nazi occupation, was created a collection of lights out (Zhasnte svtla, 1938). Collected Helmet clay (Plba hlny, 1945) dedicated to the events of the Prague uprising. During the 1950's in the mood Ceyferta shift to an increasingly critical perception of the Stalinist regime. He strongly opposed the Soviet invasion in 1968. Seifert helped the dissident writer, was among the founders of the human rights movement, known as the 'Charter 77'. Of his later works is the volume Morova pillar (Morov sloup, 1977). Seifert also wrote books for children, and in 1981 published his memoirs. Seifert died in Prague on January 10, 1986.
