Biography Ernst Heinkel (Heinkel Ernst)
(1888-1958)
Born January 24, 1888 in Grunbahe (Wц?rttemberg). In 1907-1911 he studied at the Higher Technical School of Stuttgart. Interested in aviation after visiting the International Exhibition in Frankfurt in 1909, in the same year began to build its first aircraft type Farman biplane. In 1911, flew on this plane, but crashed and was seriously injured. He worked as designer for F. Schneider, then moved to the company 'Albatross erkraft', and in 1914 became technical director and chief designer of the aircraft manufacturer 'Hansa und Brandenburgishen flyugtsoygverke'. In 1922 he founded his own company and began creating seaplane. Designed and constructed a catapult to launch seaplane from ships, which was used in 1927 on the Atlantic Liner 'Bremen'. In the early 1930's built seven-seater transport aircraft No-70, which in 1933 was raised a record speed of 375 km / h. In subsequent years, created a dive bomber, not 50 and not a fighter-51, widely used during World War II. To pre-war period is the invention of a turbojet engine S-3 and the world's first jet aircraft, the flight which took place on August 27, 1939. After the war, Heinkel was engaged in the construction of motorcycles and bicycles. Heinkel He died in Stuttgart, January 30, 1958.
