Biography Anthony Herman Gerard Fokker
(1890-1939) Born April 6, 1890 in Kediri on the island of Java. In 1895 his father, the owner of a coffee plantation, he moved to Haarlem (Netherlands). The first Fokker established in 1911. Unsuccessfully tried to offer his design to several Governments, but his interest in sustainable monoplanes only in Germany. In 1913 Fokker founded near Schwerin (Germany) Aircraft Plant. During the First World War the Fokker factory and other factories were built 8000 aircraft in its design. During the war the Germans managed to shoot down a French plane in which the propeller blades was retroreflector for bullets. After studying this construction, Fokker has created a fundamentally new synchronizer for firing through the propeller disc. In 1919, after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, the Fokker factory was relocated to Amsterdam. In 1922, Fokker moved to the U.S., where he founded the company 'Fokker'. In 1926 one of the Fokker aircraft was made a flight over North Pole. Major achievements in the Fokker aircraft industry - the creation of a thick wing (the thickness of the 12% chord) without wire pairs (1916), as well as the fuselage of welded steel pipes. The aircraft later constructions were wooden cantilever wing and smooth welded fuselage. Fokker has published numerous works on civil and military aviation, which influenced the design of a well-streamlined aircraft multiengined. Fokker died in New York on December 23, 1939.
