Biography FRESNES Philip Morin (Freneau Philip Morin)
(1752-1832)
Born January 2, 1752 in New York. Grew up in Monmouth County, New Jersey, in 1771 graduated from the New Jersey College in Princeton. For a time he taught, he studied theology, without much success published youthful poetry, and in 1775 became a zealous champion of the liberties and the release of America, speaking with a sharp satire, exposing embezzlement by the British authorities in Boston. On the eve of the revolution went to the islands of the West Indies, . where he spent two years, . in 1778 he returned to America, . joined the Volunteers, . visited privateers, . POW, . writer of satires and war songs and the editor-publisher (1782-1785) patriotic newspaper Frimenz Journal ', . looked out at Philadelphia,

After the war, Freni spent several years at sea, he returned in 1789 with the support of T. Jefferson established in Philadelphia "National Gazette" (1791-1793). After 1800 withdrew from public affairs, again tried luck at sea, printed patriotic poems during the War of 1812, but recent years has lived in his old house near Middletown Point, New Jersey.
