Biography Erich Fromm (Fromm Erich)
(1900-1980) Born in Frankfurt March 23, 1900. Studying sociology and psychology, received his Ph.D. from the University of Heidelberg in 1922, also studied at Munich University and the Berlin psychoanalytic institute. In 1934, Fromm moved to the United States and taught at Columbia, Yale and the University of Michigan, as well as the Institute of Psychiatry, William White Alencon. The main area of his interests was the application of psychoanalytic theory to the problems of culture and society. Not agreeing with the Freudian theory of biological conditioning of the human person, Fromm argued that the man - a product of culture. In his book Escape from Freedom (Escape from Freedom, . 1941) Fromm issleddoval difficult situation, . which turns out to be a man of Western culture, . where the desire for individuality, ultimately leads to loneliness, .
