Biography Ludvig Holberg (Holberg Ludvig)
(1684-1754)
Born December 3, 1684 in Bergen (Norway, while part of Denmark). Occupies a unique position of the founder of the literature of both countries.
Filled with satire mock-heroic poem Holberg Peder Porso (Peder Paars, 1719-1720) led him to the brink of conflict with the authorities. In the subsequent six years he wrote made him famous comedy, . Among the most famous politician Tinman (Den politiske kandestber, . 1722), . Jeppe to the mountains (Jeppe p bjerget, . 1722), . Masquerades (Masquerade, . 1724), . Henrik and Pernille (Henrik og Pernille, . 1724),
. When because of dissatisfaction with the God-fearing court theater was closed, he wrote a funeral Danish Comedy (Den danske komoedies ligbegngelse, 1727).

Holberg one of the first Danish language used in literary purposes, his comedy was the first original pieces played on the Danish. They Holberg subjected to ridicule the sluggishness and the pretense that prevailed at the time, and overall life and manners contemporaries.

Leaving Denmark, Holberg went to Paris. In 1741 in Leipzig saw the light of its underground journey Nicholas Clim (Nicolai Klimi iter subterraneum), written in Latin, in order to avoid persecution by the pietistskih circles. Norwegian student Klim, exploring a cave near Bergen, falls into it and transported to another world. Description of the imaginary inhabitants of countries visited by Klim, gave Holberg an excellent opportunity to fully develop his powers as a satirist ridiculed existing orders.

In the last years of life Holberg wrote a number of historical and biographical works. Holberg died in Copenhagen on Jan. 28, 1754.
