Biography VINOGRADOV Ivan Ivanovich
(1765-1801) Coming from a priest's family. He studied at a religious school. In the footsteps of his father went and was 'BOAD' soldiers. Prior to 1796, Mr.. served in the Semenov regiment. Back in Smolensk, a teacher and writing poems. Translated from Greek, Latin, French. According to specialists one of the best mythological dictionaries his time has been transferred to them 'mythological pantheon' F. A. Pomeya. Successfully translated the poetic works of Voltaire, published an anonymous biography 'Life illustrious Mr.. Voltaire '(1786, 2 ed. 1787). Among the later translations. 'Funny story funny Scarron' (St. Petersburg, 1801, h. 1-4), 'Sacred History of the Old and New Testament ...' (1799-1800, h. 1 - 3). Published a revised foreign translations: 'The Passion of Young Werther "Goethe (1796) in the translation F. A. Galchenkova and 'Adrian and Sofia, or the genteel lovers' (1799-1800 gg., H. 1-2) in the translation of P. I. Strakhov.
Among the original works in. ode to the case, a free adaptation of ancient authors, popular biography of F. YA. Lefort ( 'The Life of Franz Yakovlevicha Lefort, a citizen of Geneva', 1799).
In. collaborated with the Smolensk Publishers. In Smolensk was carried out a second edition of the translation guide on natural W. Bonn 'contemplation of nature' (Smolensk, 1804-1806).
