Born in Baku. She graduated from Yerevan State Conservatory (class of Gohar Gasparyan) and the Moscow Music School,. Ippolitov-Ivanov studied piano and music faculty of Moscow State Pedagogical University, specialty "choirmaster". From 1980 to 1986 worked in the ensemble "Moscow Chamber Choir under Vl. Minin.
