Biography BASIL (Basileos)
Basil of Seleucia, Basileos, mind. app. 459 g., Greek Christian writer. Approximately 440 g. Metropolitan of Seleucia. Participated in the Monophysite disputes related to the Council of Chalcedon (451 AD); survived by his message to the Emperor Leo I in the protection of the provisions of this cathedral. He left behind a collection of homilite, often in the form of a dramatized dialogue (in the collection homilite contained in patrologist Minia not all of them original). Particularly noteworthy work, describing the life and deeds of St.. Thekla, based on the apocryphal writings of Paul and Thekla. It is valuable for studying the religious life of IV and V centuries.
