H ikolay I. Poleschikov, Guard soldier, commander of the department of engineering-mine company, 4-th Guards Mechanized Brigade, was born in 1910 in a. New Zhukovka Bazarnokarabulakskogo District, Saratov Region. Russian. Primary Education. Before the war he worked as a carpenter.

During the Great Patriotic War - from July 1942 until November 12, 1944 - fought in the South, Stalingrad, 4, 3 and 2 of the First Ukrainian Front. Participated in the defense of Stalingrad, the liberation of Ukraine, Moldova, Romania and Hungary. For military distinction was awarded the Order of the Patriotic War, 1 st degree (1945), medal "For Courage" (1943) and "For the Defense of Stalingrad.

In March 1944, troops of the 3rd Ukrainian Front took Bereznegovato-Snigirevskaya offensive, . which had resulted in boosted the Dnieper River in its lower reaches, . Ingulets, . Southern Bug, . liberated Kherson and Mykolaiv.,

. On the night of March 10, 1944 Poleschikov loaded weapons at people and life rafts and fishing boats. It was quiet, only occasionally covered the Nazis water plyos missiles, periodically firing a machine gun tracer bullets in the direction of our coast. When the assault team had reached the middle of the river, the Nazis saw it, and opened heavy fire from all weapons. Became bright as day. Bullets whistled all around, rose water fountains from the explosions of shells, but our soldiers still amicable beat upon their oars, and, disguising reeds, landed on the opposite shore.

. Four miners headed Poleschikovym crawled toward the enemy trenches, checking every inch of ground probes. The assault team square up to, if necessary, to cover up actions of engineers.

Soon probe Poleschikova hit a metal object. Minesweeper guard with his hands and began to rake the wet sand. Finding mustache, pulled the top, then bottom wires. Anti-tank mine was defused.

So one by one, searched Poleschikov and his comrades enemy mines, preparing for the passage of our infantry. Soon the engineers got to the barbed wire. Skillfully working with scissors, they made an opening in the wire and making sure that no more mines, pocket flashlight gave the prearranged signal to move the attack team. But at this moment the Germans lit area missiles with krutoyara unexpected blow gun. Sappers were discovered, the whole operation could be broken.

Poleschikov crawled to the gun. A few minutes later I heard explosions of hand grenades. Gun silent. Assault group taking advantage of the enemy fire, rapid attack, stormed into the trench, captured the coastal height and secured the crossing of the river main forces battalions.

. Sappers led Poleschikova rented per night for 478 enemy mines.

. The river overflowed its banks, muddy spring water rushed to the south. Ferrying funds was not. Poleschikov organized manufacturing rafts of logs and planks, assembled fishing boats and headed crossing vanguard. Sergeant Poleschikov came with his unit to Hungary. In the hot battle near Kecskemet November 12, 1944, he was fatally wounded and died the next day. Buried in g. Nikolaev.
