Biography PALLADA (Palladas)
Pallas; Palladas, of Alexandria, the second half of IV in. n. e., Greek poet. Schoolteachers. Maintained at approximately 150 epigrams, in which P. sharply attacks and ridicules human vices or many expressed their pessimistic outlook on life. He predicted trouble, refers to the neglect of pagan rituals, expressing their sympathy for him, although he is more agnostic than a pagan. In P. epigrams, along with his characteristic elegiac distihom or iambic trimeter appears hexameter, rarely used in the epigram the late-Empire. P. often writes Homeric language creates neologisms. Humor his epigrams primarily based on a play on words.
