Biography POSEYDIPP (Poseidippos)
Poseydipp; Poseidippos, from Pella in Macedonia, the beginning of III. BC. e., Greek poet. Friend Asclepiades Samos. In his youth, perhaps, studied philosophy in Athens. Then he lived in Alexandria, where he wrote an epigram for the sanctuary deified queen Arsinoe II and for the lighthouse on the island of Pharos (both found on papyrus). In the Palatine Anthology survived about 25 epigrams P., mostly drinking and erotic content. Susceptibility to the plastic beauty, he confirmed epigrams on works of art, for example, a statue of Alexander of Macedon and allegorical sculpture Lysippos, representing Guillemot (MIG luck). Language II. plain and simple, in metric, he focuses on Kallimaha.
