Biography Anthony, Susan Brownell (Susan Brownell Anthony)

1820 - 1906

Susan B. Anthony (Susan B. Anthony) was born February 15, 1820 in g. Adams, Massachusetts. Educated at home in the Quaker tradition, a precocious child, and three years already knew how to read and write. After graduating from the local high school, she taught in the Women's Academy (1846-49) in New York. At the beginning of the Civil War, she helped organize the Women's National League loyal struggling for the emancipation of. In May 1869 Susan B. Anthony and Elizabeth Stanton formed the National Association of women's suffrage (Nation Woman Suffrage Association - NWSA). In 1892, after the resignation of Stanton, Susan became president of the NWSA, fighting for women's suffrage in the United States of America. Her work has helped to take the 19 th amendment to the constitution, giving women the right to vote. In the 90 years of the 19 th century, Susan became a national heroine. March 13, 1906 Susan Anthony died in Rochester, New York.
