Klychkov (real name - Leshenkov) Sergei Antonovich (1889 - 1940), poet, novelist.

Born on July 1 (13 NS) in the village of Dubrovka Tver province in the family cobbler. He studied at the village school, even then, does the writing poems ". Later took a course in Moscow in college I. Fiedler. In 1906 - 08 began to publish his poetry ( "A man stood up," "Whirlwind," "Hymn to Freedom" was published in the anthology "On the Crossroads" in 1906.

In 1908 he entered the historical-philological faculty of Moscow University, he studied with Sergei Soloviev, who had a definite influence on Klychkov. In the same year was in Italy, where he met with Maxim Gorky and A. Lunacharsky.

In 1911 in Moscow released the first collection of poems Klychkov "Songs" who had great success with readers, critics, and most importantly, the masters of poetry workshop. On poetry written Klychkov Gumilev, Bryusov, M. Voloshin. In one of his letters of this time there are such words: "I know now that I have talent ... Only in this for me the salt and the meaning of my gay life! "

In 1913 they released the compilation "undercover garden, greeted as enthusiastically as the first. Then he met with '. Yesenin friendship which lasted many years. Subsequently, they were co-authors of several works - "Cantata", a screenplay "Summoning Dawns", etc..

The First World War changed the life Klychkov. He was drafted into the army, served in the Baltic, then in the school of ensigns in Finland. During the Civil War poet, was sentenced to death twice: once Makhnovists, other times white. Random Klychkov stay alive.

Revolution met with enthusiasm ( "How not to sing and pray ..."). In 1918 his poetical collection "Dubravnaya" in 1919 - "Ring of Ladas, 1923 -" Guest wonderful ". All these and subsequent collections of poems speak about the fruitfulness of his chosen folk and romantic direction

After the death of Esenin intensified campaign of attacks on peasant poets, it is not passed and Klychkov. His article in defense of poetry "peasant kupnitsy" ( "The hare, lit a match"), he brought upon himself the outrage opponents of "kulak literature". In 1930 came his most recent book of poetry "Visiting Cranes", was greeted angrily criticized.

Klychkov was forced to do translations. During the 30 years it went transcriptions epic works of the peoples of the USSR. The collection of selected translations Klychkov "Saraspan" entered Mari folk songs, works of G. Leonidze, V. Pshavela, A. Tsereteli, etc..

In July 1937 Klychkov was arrested and soon (in October the same year) shot. He was posthumously rehabilitated.
