Weill, Kurt Weill (Weill), (1900-1950), German composer and conductor. Born March 2, 1900 in Dessau. In 1919-20 carried opera as a conductor and director in Dessau and Lyudensheyde. World famous satirical "The Threepenny Opera", . that led to the collaboration with Bertolt Brecht Weil, . the plays which Weill wrote false numbers - songs and ballads, . then the opera on his libretto ( "Happy End", . 1929; Man, . always saying "yes", . The Rise and Fall of the city Mahogany ", . 1930; ballet with singing "The Seven Deadly Sins, . 1933) and many others, . dp. In 1933 he emigrated to France, lived in England since 1935 - in the U.S., worked for the Broadway theaters, he wrote musicals, orchestral, choral, chamber works, as well as music for film and radio. Influenced by Paul Hindemith, J. Gershwin etc.. Died April 3, 1950 in New York.
