Biography KAR Gustav von (Kahr)
Kar, Gustav von (Kahr), (1862-1934), politician, Bavaria. Born November 29, 1862 in Veysenburge, Bavaria. Since 90-ies. participated actively in the activities of the local Bavarian government. In 1911 received a knighthood (Ritter von). In 1917 - 1924 led the Government of Bavaria. After the founding of the Weimar Republic, von Kar, being a staunch monarchist, opposed the central government for autonomy for Bavaria. In an effort to crush separatist sentiment, President Friedrich Ebert introduced in the country on Sept. 26, 1923 emergency. In response, von Kar proclaimed himself the Commissioner-General of Bavaria, which was seen by the central government in Berlin as a revolt. Around the separatist program von Kara joined various monarchist groups, which were headed by Commander of Military Region of the Reichswehr in Bavaria, General Otto von losses and head of the Bavarian police, Colonel Hans von Shaysser.

Hitler's position and popularity in Bavaria which is increasing rapidly, regarded separatism von Kara, leading, in his opinion, to weaken the unity of the Reich, a betrayal of national interests. Fearing the increasing competing with the Nazi party, von Kar banned at the end of September 1923 meeting of the NSDAP. In this situation, Hitler decided to seize the initiative, to proclaim "national revolution" and to organize a "march on Berlin". During the "Beer Hall Putsch" in 1923, Hitler offered background Karu and von Lossovu, taking them hostage, to join the "national revolution" and enter the new Government. Allocated time on parole von Kar and Von Loss immediately began to develop a plan of the Nazi suppression of the rebellion. Munich was surrounded by troops, and von Kar issued a decree banning the activities of the NSDAP. The putsch was suppressed, and Hitler was brought before the court.

In 1924-27 von Kar was chairman of the Supreme Court of Bavaria. During the events of "Night of Long Knives" von Kar July 6, 1934, was killed at his home in Munich by the Nazis, never forgive him suppress their rebellion.
