Biography Krupp von Bohlen, Gustav (Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach)
Krupp von Bohlen, Gustav (Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach), (1870-1950), German industrialist and tycoon, provided significant material support to the Nazi movement. Born August 7, 1870 in The Hague in the family banker. In 1893 he graduated from the Faculty of the University of Heidelberg. He started his career as a diplomat, working in the Germanic missions in Washington, Beijing and the Vatican. Since 1906 was a board member of the concern Krupp. In the 20-ies. played an opponent of the Nazi movement, but after meeting with Hitler February 20, 1933 changed his mind and began to provide financial assistance program of rearmament of Germany. In May 1933 Krupp von Bohlen was appointed President "fund Adolf Hitler". At the Krupp factories, where a large scale made tanks, artillery and other military equipment, widely used labor of prisoners of war and other prisoners of concentration camps. In 1948 Krupp von Bohlen appeared before an American military tribunal as a war criminal, but age and health, was relieved of criminal responsibility. He died in Blyunbahe, near Salzburg, 16 January 1950.
