Lichtenburg, Bernard (Lichtenburg), (1875-1943), a Catholic priest, preacher. Born December 3, 1875 in Silesia. As ordained in 1899 dedicated. During the 1-st World War was an army chaplain. After the war he was a member of the Berlin city council of the Catholic party, the Center ". August 28, 1941, as rector of the Cathedral of SS. Hedwig in Berlin Lichtenburg sent an angry letter to the chief physician of the Reich, Dr. Leonardo Conti, protesting against the deliberate killing of large numbers of mentally ill. "I, . a man, . Lichtenburg was arrested and sentenced to two years in jail. Shortly before the forthcoming release, he was sent to Dachau. Lichtenburg died in the camp on Nov. 3, 1943.
