Nolde, Emil (Nolde), (1867-1956), Nolde, Emil (Nolde), German expressionist painter, graphic artist. Real name Emil Hansen.. Real name Emil Hansen. Born August 7, 1867 at Nolde, Cev. Schleswig, now Denmark. In 1885-89 he studied at the School of art wood carving in Flensburg, perfected in Munich, Paris, Copenhagen. In 1892-98 he taught at Art - Industrial School in St. Gallen (Switzerland). One of the leading masters of expressionism. In 1905-07 belonged to the association "Bridge". Nolde works were imbued with mystical exaltation, the combination of fantastic and concrete, using a sharp deformation of natural forms and combinations of contrasting colors extremely svetonasyschennyh. In 1920 Nolde joined the Nazi movement, joined the Nazi party, but later became disenchanted with him, for that was persecuted by the authorities as a provider of "degenerate art".
