Biography Yoichiro Nambu
Born in 1921.

Graduated from the Faculty of Physics, University of Tokyo, the same worked.

Soon the place was a professor at the University of Osaka. In 1952 Tomonaga recommended by the Institute for Advanced Study in Princeton, USA. Since 1958, Professor, University of Chicago (Institute for Nuclear Research, named after Enrico Fermi).

Yoichiro Nambu contributed greatly to the development of the theory of elementary particles, for example, put forward the idea of spontaneous symmetry breaking. Participated in the development of the quark chromodynamics.

Much attention is paid to the training of young researchers, coming from Japan. He was awarded honorary degrees and awards of various American and Japanese scientific societies. Elected a member of the Academy of Sciences.

In 1984, the Soviet Union came a translation of his popular science book "Quarks", in which he explains the complex physics ideas using simple analogies and witty, without the use of mathematical tools.
