Biography KENELLI Thomas
KENELLI, Thomas (Keneally, Thomas) (p. 1935), Australian novelist and playwright. Born Oct. 7, 1935 in Sydney. At age 17, entered the Catholic seminary, but left it up to the adoption of dignity. The experience of these years is reflected in the early novels Kenelli: "Seminary in Wheaton" (A Place at Whitton, 1964) and "Triple cheers in honor of the patron" (Three Cheers for the Paraclete, 1968). The first significant work Kenelli, made people talk about him as a talented representatives of the genre of historical novel, was novel, "Bring Larks and Heroes" (Bring Lurks and Heroes, 1967). Racism and violence - two social problems to which the writer returns in many of his books - have been the object of artistic research in the highly regarded novel, "The Song of Jimmy Bleksmite" (The Chant of Jimmie Blacksmith, 1972). Kenelli recreates an episode in the history of the Australian state of New South Wales, where the aborigine, driven to frenzy treatment with whites, is a murderer. The Royal Society of Literature honors author of the novel in 1973 prize Heineman.

In the book "Blood Red, Sister Rose: a novel about a virgin of Orleans" (Blood Red, Sister Rose: A Novel of the Maid of Orleans, 1974) noted the criticism is well-thought-out image of Joan of Arc. Kenelli created a number of documentary books about Australia, as well as "House boy - Bush: Memoirs" (Homebush Boy: A Memoir, 1995). On his trips Kenelli told in the books "now and in the future: Ireland and the Irish" (Now and in Time to Be: Ireland and Irish, . 1992) and "Place, . which are born of the soul: A Journey to the south-west "(The Place Where Souls Are Born: A Journey into the Southwest, . 1992),
. In 1999 his book "The great shame - and the triumph of the Irish in English-speaking world" (The Great Shame: And the Triumph of the Irish in the English Speaking World), which gives a detailed picture of the life of the Irish Diaspora throughout the 19.

Kenelli awarded numerous prizes and awards, the most prestigious of which is the Order of Australia, he obtained in 1983 'for services to literature'.
