Biography Bartenev Praskovya (Pauline) Arsen'evna
Bartenev Praskovya (polynomial) Arsen'evna (1811-1872), Russian singer (soprano).
Born 13 (25) November 1811 in an impoverished noble family. In 1824 (according to other data from 1830) began performing at the grand soirees and charity concerts and soon gained popularity in Moscow and St. Petersburg as a parlor singer (in 1835 received the title of chamber-maids of honor and courtly singer). Had a rare beauty and power of voice, vocal skill, high-performance culture. Sang Russian romances. composers (including dedicated to her love songs and songs of AE Varlamov "Along the street," "Mademoiselle, I Sit on a bench, etc.), Russian folk songs, Italian opera arias. Admiration singing Bartenevo reflected in her poems on VAZhukovsky, PA Vyazemsky, II Kozlova (Russian Singer, 1836), Lermontov (madrigal "Tell me where to adopt", 1830 etc.), VA Sollogub, EP Rostopchina. Was familiar with Pushkin (from 1832), Glinka (since 1834), who rehearsed their songs with her, was also the first performer (in concert March 23, 1838) cavatina Lyudmila from his opera "Ruslan and Lyudmila ".

Bartenev died in St. Petersburg on January 24 (5 February) 1872.
