ABALKIN Leonid

Born in 1930
Large economist theorist and political activist, an expert in the methodology of economic science, the problems of economic policy and the economic mechanism. Main research interests are focused on developing ways to transform Russia's society, understanding the cultural and historical backgrounds and ways of civilization prospects of economic reforms. Academician since 1987.

Graduated from the Moscow Institute of National Economy in 1952. After graduation he worked in the agricultural college Kaliningrad, Moscow Region, Moscow Institute of National Economy. GV. Plekhanov Academy of Social Sciences under the CPSU Central Committee. Since June 1986 led by the Institute of Economics, RAS. Since November 1988. June 1989. was a member of the Presidium of RAS. In 1989 - 1991 he. worked as deputy. Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Chairman of the State Commission of the Council of Ministers of the Economic Reform.

He was awarded the medal "For Valiant Labor" (1970), Certificate of Honor of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR (1980), the medal "Veteran of Labor" (1984), the Medal of Friendship, the Order of Friendship of Peoples "(1986).

He is an academician of the International Academy of Management, the New York Academy of Sciences, the International Economic Academy of Eurasia, the President of the International Foundation of. N.D. Kondratiev, Vice-President of the Free Economic Society of Russia and the International Union of Economists.

He is author of more than 400 publications, including 15 individual monographs.
