George Orson Welles was born May 6, 1915 in the United States, in Kenosha (Wisconsin). After the death of both parents guardian of twelve George was appointed Maurice Bernstein. In 1931, George graduated from the school `Todd` Woodstock (Illinois), but did not want to study further and went to Ireland. After several unsuccessful attempts to enter the London stage and act on Broadway, Wells went again to travel - been to Morocco, Spain participated in a bullfight. In the end, he got advice from the then known writers Thornton Wilder and Alexander Vullkota and was accepted into the troupe Katharine Cornell, which included his debut at the New - York stage in the role of Tybalt in 1934. In the same year, Welles directed his first short film, `Hearts of Age`. In 1937, along with John Hausmann he founded the Mercury Theater ``, and in 1938 he created on the New - York radio transmission 'Mercury Theater `` `in the air, made famous by notorious statement of` War of the Worlds `(1938). The first serious work of Orson Welles became a film `Citizen Kane '(1941), which proved a commercial failure, but is still considered one of the masterpieces of American cinema. It Wells acted as producer, director, screenwriter and leading man. In 1948, overwhelmed by numerous financial setbacks of his films, he went to Europe, where he worked until almost the end of his life. From the works of Wells outside the cinema is interesting to note his participation (narration) in a record album `Fighting the World` (1987) and `Battle hymns` (1982) Group `Manowar`. In 1975, for their achievements Orson Welles was awarded a special prize of the American Film Institute, and in 1984 - Prize. D. W. Griffith of the director's guild of America. George Orson Welles died of a heart attack on Oct. 10, 1985 in Hollywood.
