Biography LOYD Bridges (Lloyd Vernet Bridges Jr.)

Vernon Lloyd Bridges Jr. was born Jan. 15, 1913 in San Leandro. He studied political science at the University of California, but after he moved to Broadway, where his debut in the modernized production of Shakespeare's "Othello". Bridges film career began in the movies westerns in 1941. The most famous of his films at that time could be called "High Noon", which Bridges played a deputy sheriff, who refused to aid the main hero valiant. In westerns he once quietly switched to militants and fiction, and recently has been prone to comedy roles. His marriage to Dorothy Simpson's lasted for over fifty years. Besides the two sons, Bridges has a daughter Cindy, and several grandchildren. Lloyd has always maintained that only the family helped him make one of the longest and the most rewarding careers in Hollywood. March 10, 1998 Lloyd Bridges died at his home in Los Angeles of natural causes. At the time of death with him was the eldest son Beau, daughter Cindy and his wife Dorothy.
