Date of Birth, 1947. After high school, graduated from engineering school.
Has higher military education. I.o. Chief of the Presidential Security Service.
After college he worked at the factory.
After serving military service in the army in 1972 joined the state security organs.

A few hours before the appointment of Yu Krapivin was awarded the title of Lieutenant-General.
June 19 President of Russia Boris Yeltsin signed a decree to rename the Main Directorate of the Federal Service of Russia and the appointment of the head of the SSF Yuri Krapivin.
June 20 - after the dismissal of Alexander Korzhakov from his post as Chief of Security - Krapivin was appointed i.o. Head SBP.
Since the summer of 1996. the spring of 1997. - Member of the Commission for high military positions, the highest military and higher special ranks of the Council on Personnel Policy under the President of Russia.
