Born Oct. 9, 1931 in Leningrad. In 1954 he graduated with honors from the Leningrad State University, specializing in human and animal physiology.

The first phase of scientific work associated with the development of the fundamental problems of membrane transport, which contributed to the establishment and development of membrane biology in the USSR.
