Born March 2, 1939 in Leningrad in a family researcher Polytechnic Institute. After the loss of parents (his father died in 1947, his mother - in 1955) entered into a technical college. Honored Artist of the RSFSR (1970), People's Artist of the RSFSR (1974), People's Artist of the USSR (1976). Winner of State Prizes of the RSFSR (1973) and the USSR (1984). She was awarded the Order of Friendship of Peoples.

On June 14, 2000 - Honorary Citizen of St. Petersburg.
