Biography Jaco Pastorius (Jaco Pastorius)
Having released in 1976 under his own name's debut album, Jaco Pastorius alone has written a new chapter in the history of bass. As its one of the followers Pastorius, "Jaco opened the door, and we all went into it"

. Approach to Jaco Pastorius bass, . as a solo instrument was in 1976, an unprecedented, . and his use of false harmonics as a melodic tool was simply a revolutionary new direction, and indicated a generation of bass players, . he awakened,
.

The self-proclaimed "greatest bass player of the world" first appeared on the musical firmament of Weather Report, the best fusion of 70. Established Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter Weather Report team after coming Pastorius became a popular concert act.

"Before Jaco," - says Joe Zawinul - "we took as a kind of esoteric artists jazz. We were popular on college campuses, but, after Jaco joined us, we began to sell the show in large concert halls throughout. Jaco has become for these guys as a national hero.

Weather Report were previously really strong team, but Jaco was living in my own world. He was so different from all the bass players of the time. He had the same magic that Jimi Hendrix. He was the perfect show-menom and a great musician ".

Having innate talent for appearances, extrovert Jaco really know how to entertain the audience, no less than in the history of jazz. Crowds were pouring to look at how he jumps from his amplifier - an obvious reverence toward manners fatal manners commandment, which he had gained at home in Florida

. With his own style of Jaco has become the personification of fusion music in general, . attracting the attention of a rock audience to new music, . paving bridges between Jimi Hendrix and John Coltrane, . Duke Ellington and Charlie Parker, . Bob Marley and James Brown, . Johann Sebastian Bach and the Beatles,
.

Starting as a drummer, like his father - restless jazzman Jack Pastorius, Jaco and then switched to 15-year old bass. He played in a brass band Las Olas Brass, which played popular material of the leading artists of the time: Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding, Wilson Pickett, James Brown and the Tijuana Brass. Switching to bass, according to Jacot, was due not his choice.

"It happened," - recalled Pastorius - "that they have another drummer, who was older than me and is technically much better play. And when full-time bass player left at about the same time, I switched to bass ".

For him it was easy. His big hands and long fingers moving seemed to have been created to play the bass. His first instrument was at keeping a cheap guitar, which he bought for $ 15. Intensively practicing for the next few months, he learned in a short period decently managed with the tool. His younger brother Rory Pastorius remembers well the rapid progress Jaco on bass: "When he turned 16, he was probably the best bass player in South Florida. When he was 17, he was definitely the best bassist in the entire state "

. By the time Jacques has perfectly mastered his trademark style of funk percussive 16-x, . which would later manifest itself in such compositions Pastorius, . as "Come On Come Over" and "Opus Pocus" from his debut album and "Barbary Coast" from Black Market, . his first experience with Weather Report,
. This technique, combined with the sound of his Fender Jazz Bass, his amplifier and strings with a circular winding, Jaco helped achieve a more bright, energetic sound with great sustain of each note. All this has become a voice Jacquot and remained his trademark throughout his successful career.

Armed with the necessary tools, great talent and ego to match him, Jaco was "a crusader", ready to conquer the world. He slowly took step by step on the path to success, . starting with local groups, . such as the funky organ trio with Hammond B-3 Woodchuck (1969-70) and a sleek band of white soul Tommy Strand & The Upper Hand (1971-72) and going to the touring across the country a group of Wayne Cochran & The CC,
. Riders (1972-73), which served as a quenching "creative fountain" Jaco.

This statement from Cochran - a few concerts a day, seven days a week - have developed his incredible stamina and technique, which then served him so well in the company's rapid Zawinul and Shorter in Weather Report. And that's when Jacques started to learn chord game, false harmonics and percussive effects on the bass guitar techniques, which later appeared in his chamber music recordings with Joni Mitchell (Hejira, 1976 and Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, 1977).

That's how he explains his colleague in the rhythm section CC. Riders, drummer Allyn Robinson: "His game was so emotional and creative, but it was not confused. For all the richness it was flowing, it was like life, like breathing, it was Yin and Yang.

The beauty of the game Jaco was not obvious things. It was not that he could play fast. It was in his phrasing. Jaco made me sound good. I have neither before not after there was no such clues with another bassist. Do you see someone like Jaco. For me there is a bass before Jaco and bass after Jaco. Exactly. I want to say that he was God's gift ".

Jaco with Weather Report reached a jet takeoff to superstar status (1976-82). Says drummer and his fellow Weather Reporter Peter Erskine: "On the one hand it was a huge phenomenon in the music business, Michael Jackson, from jazz. He produced such an incredible impression. For the creative instrumentalist, is unprecedented impact. He was the one in whom felt just incredible potential. He really had the world by the tail ".

Jaco Pastorius died tragically on September 21, 1987, just ten weeks before they reach 36 years of. But his legacy, recorded with Weather Report, Joni Mitchell and his own project, Word of Mouth lives through time
