Biography Kovalenko, Eugene K.
Born January 3, 1950 in Tashkent. Father - Konstantin Kovalenko Nikitivich (1910g.rozhd.). Mother - Sophia Zhukova Stefanovna (1913g.rozhd.). Wife - Kourova Elena (rod.23.02.1970 g.). Children: Alexander (rod.8.10.1972), the Konstantin (rod.5.05.1996 g.).

EK Kovalenko - a graduate of the Faculty of Journalism of Lomonosov Moscow State University (1972 - 1978 yy).

Athlete-basketball career began in Tashkent, speaking for the team "University" (1968-1969 yy). In the basketball club CSKA since 1970. Up to 1981 - one of the leading players in the team. Position - forward. As a player ten times CSKA became the champion of the USSR, holder of the European Cup (1972). He has twice won the Olympics title of the USSR. In the USSR team EK Kovalenko became the bronze medalist of European Championship (1973). During a speech at the club, and in the USSR team, he won a reputation as a sniper, his accurate long throws has helped the team achieve success in the All-Union championships and international competitions.

From 1981 to 1983. - Coach Methodist CSKA. In 1983 he went to o.Madagaskar, where he worked with the local basketball team as a coach. He was awarded the Order of "Merit to Madagascar". After returning to his homeland in 1986, became the coach of men's basketball team CSKA and has been in office so far. From 1982 to present, in combination, is a junior coach Russia.

Working in a team CSKA coach, he became the champion three times, the Soviet Union and six times - the champion of Russia. Champion of the first World Military Olympics. Together with the team three times reached the Euroleague quarterfinals. In 1996 he took part in the Euroleague final four in Paris, where the team took 3rd place. Honored coach of Russia. In 1998, Presidential Decree EK Kovalenko was awarded a medal "For merits before Fatherland" II degree.
