Biography Abikh Hermann Wilhelm
Born December 11, 1806 in Berlin, in 1833, took an academic trip to Italy, then typing "Ueber die Natur der vulkanischen Bildungen" (Braunshv., 1841). In 1842, won in the Dorpat chair of geology, in 1844, attracted by the famous eruption of Mount Ararat June 30, 1840, went to the Caucasus. Fascinated by the grandiose nature of the Caucasus, A. decided to bring her to sacrifice the pulpit and in 1854 finally settled in the Caucasus, where he lived until 1877, working tirelessly and selflessly. . Already the first of these works brought a. in 1853 the title of academician of the ordinary, and in 1866 the Academy of Sciences elected him and an honorary member. In 1877 he settled in Vienna and zealously set about settling into one of their 30-year observations and died July 2, 1886 in Graz, . having to issue a "Ueber crystallinischen Hagel im unter Caucasus" (Vienna, . 1879) and part of the "Geologische Forschungen in den Caucasischen Landern" (3 tons, . Vienna, . 1878 - 87),
. Observations of A. left untreated, preserved in his diaries, some of them have already been published ( "Geologische Fragmente", Vienna, 1887). A. gave a full explanation of the physical-geographical and geological nature of the Caucasus. A. first scientifically identified orographic nature of the Caucasus, the main lines of uplift of the mountains, their antiquity, the mutual relationships and attitudes to the relief of the Old World. Portfolio A. provided essential services and development of mining in the Caucasus.
