Biography Amfilohy
Amfilohy (in the world Pavel Ivanovich Sergievsky), archaeologist (1818 - 93). He studied at the Moscow Theological Academy. In 1842 he took monastic vows, was abbot of several monasteries, then Bishop of Uglich, Yaroslavl diocese vicar. A. was valid and an honorary member of almost all the metropolitan and provincial historical and archaeological societies in 1868 was elected a corresponding member of Academy of Sciences of the Greek and Slavic Palaeography. He left a lot of work on archeology, philology and history of Old Russian literature was a description of Manuscripts Library of the Resurrection Monastery, first described by many ancient manuscripts. His works are very important compared to the Greek and ancient Slavonic manuscripts and to compile dictionaries of ancient monuments.
