In 1886. thesis master's degree in astronomy ( "sunspots and their motion"), and in 1895. - The degree of Doctor of Astronomy ( "On the spectrum of variable Delta Cephei"). In 1888. appointed assistant professor at the observatory at Pulkovo, in 1891, Mr.. - Astrophysicist, in 1908, Mr.. - Vice-Director. In 1900, Mr.. elected an Associate of the Imperial Academy of Sciences, in 1903. - In the extraordinary, in 1906. - In the ordinary academics. Highlights of Belopolsky relate to the study of spectra of stars and the sun. With the spectrograph, prilazhennogo to Pulkovo 30-inch refractor, was Belopol'skii catalog of spectra of bright stars. Special detailed studies relate to the stars Etta Aquilae, Delta Cephei, Ro Cygni, Alpha and Zeta Geminorum (Belopol'skii opened spectral duality latest stars). Belopol'skii built a special device for experimental proof of the principle of the Doppler. From the spectral measurements derived turnover time of Venus, the rings of Saturn (and confirmed the theory of Maxwell п©я-п¦п¦п+п¦я-п¦пTп+п+пЁп+ structure of the Rings). Extensive work Belopolsky devoted to the spectra of the "new" stars 1892 and 1901. He organized and participated in several expeditions to observe solar eclipses, and explored the range of rotation of Jupiter and the withdrawal of stellar parallax from observations of transit instrument.
