Biography Bunge, Alexander A.
Professor of the University of Dorpat, was born September 24, 1803, Mr.. in Kiev in 1821. admitted to Dorpat University to study medicine and science. In 1825, having received a doctorate degree, he went with his teacher Ledebour in Siberia. Designated even while traveling doctor Kolyvano-Resurrection of mountain plants, he has made first from Barnaul, then from Zmeinogorsk excursions to explore the Altai. In 1829, met here from Humboldt, on the recommendation which was seconded by the Academy of Sciences of the spiritual mission, sailed in 1830, Mr.. Beijing. He collected during his trip to China material, he described in "Enumeratio plantarum quas in China boreali collegit" (St. Petersburg, 1831) and "Piantarum Mongolico-Chinensium decas I" (Kazan, 1835). In 1832, Mr.. Bunge again toured Altai (list of plants collected then published in 1836), in 1833, Mr.. returned to St. Petersburg, and in 1834. was invited to the chair of botany at Kazan. In 1835, Mr.. He toured the Volga steppes and the Astrakhan province. In 1836, Mr.. took the chair of botany at Dorpat. In 1857, Mr.. joined the expedition for the study of Persia. In Tiflis, Baku, Caspian Sea, Astrabad, Nishapur and Mashhad, he went to Herat, where in 1858. undertook study tours to various places in Persia, in 1859, returned in Tehran and Tbilisi in Dorpat. In 1867, Mr.. resigned, and almost entirely engaged in the processing of the material collected in Persia. In 1874,. was a member of the Botanical Congress in Florence.
