Biography Vasily A. Zolotov
(1804 - 1882). After Richelieu lyceum foot went to Moscow University. In 1829, after a series of hardships, he returned to Odessa was approved by an associate on the faculty of philology in high school and opened a boarding house, where the first Russian teachers began to apply a sound method of teaching literacy. Soon after came his "Tables for teaching reading and writing" (9 th ed., St. Petersburg., 1878), which later, while serving in the Ministry of Education, have been replaced by the so-called Lancastrian table. He has traveled almost the whole of Russia for the audit of rural schools and to facilitate the introduction of a new literacy. On his initiative, farmers of different provinces amounted to 400 on the opening sentences of rural schools, and teachers' conventions were more proper organization.
