A very valuable work Keppen dissemination elk, . beaver, . deer and other mammals in Russia, . and in particular the major work "The geographical distribution of coniferous trees in European Russia and the Caucasus" (1885), . which represents the first attempt of separation of European Russia on the phytogeographical region,
. Other works relate Keppen ethnography (Materials on the question of the original country and primitive relatives of Indo-European and Finno-Ugric tribe, 1886), linguistics, physical geography. He was preparing materials for the extensive work "Bibliotheca Zoologica Rossica", . in which they were to collect all the published data, . concerning the animal kingdom, Russia (Volumes I and II, . general part, . published by Keppenom the remaining volume, . containing special literature, . prepared for publication),
