Biography KOVALEVSKI Paul Osipovich
(1843 - 1903). He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts, at B.P. Villevalde. He received gold medals for the picture: "The persecution of Turkish foraging Cossacks, near Kars" and "The first day of the Battle of Leipzig". In Rome, painted "Excavations in Rome" (in the museum of Alexander III), for which he earned the title of academician. In 1876 - 1878 he served in the theater of the Russian army against the Turks, and gathered there is a wealth of material for his subsequent works.
