Biography Kuznetsov, Nikolai Ivanovich
Born in 1864, graduated from the course in Physics and Mathematics at St. Petersburg University. In 1895, Mr.. for his thesis: "Subgenus Eugentiana genus Gentiana" ( "Proceedings of the St. Petersburg Society Estestvoispyteley, 1894) received a Master of botany and was appointed Professor of the Department of Botany, University of Tartu. Kuznetsov established a school of botanists, taxonomists. Novorossiysk University elected him an honorary doctor of botany. His main works: "Materials for the lichen flora of the New Earth" ( "Schipta Botanica", t. I, Issue 2, 1886 - 1887), "Investigation of the flora and Shenkursky Kholmogory districts of the Arkhangelsk province" ( "Proceedings of the St. Petersburg Society of Natural History", t. XX, 1888), "Geobotanicheskoe study of the northern slope of the Caucasus" ( "Proceedings of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society", t. XXVI), "Beitrage zur Flora Caucasica. Zwei neue rhamnus-Formen "(" Mel. Biol. Acad. St.-Petersb. ", T. XIII), "Neue asiatische Gentianen" (ib.), "On the effect of the glacial period on the geographical distribution of plants in Europe" ( "Proceedings of the Imperial Russian Geographical Society", t. XXVII), "Neue asiatische und americaniscyt Gentianen" ( "Acta H. Petrop. ", T. XIII,? 4, 1893), "Der Botanische Garten der Kaiserlichen Universitat zu Jurjew (Dorpat)" ( "Bot. Centralbl. ", 1896, 1897 and 1898). He founded the "Proceedings of the Tartu Botanical Garden. Of particular note is his "Introduction to the taxonomy of flowering plants" (Yur'ev, 1914).
