Biography Levakovsky Ivan
(1828 - 1893). He graduated from the course at Kharkov University. For the protection of the doctoral dissertation: "The geological study of sediments of the Permian formations in the north-western part of the Donets Ridge" (1868) elected a professor in the Department of Geology, Kharkiv University. Published the first textbook of geology original in Russian, which took place a considerable geological description of Russia. He took an active part in organizing the Society of Naturalists at Kharkov University. Many of his works are placed almost exclusively in the "Proceedings" above named company, have contributed significantly to explain the geological structure of southern Russia. The most important of them: "On the ledges of the crystalline rocks of the Dnieper", .
